Still Ill Part Deux

Woke up at 6am not being able to breathe. Got up and tried to make the day productive. Sadly, I've not been able to do much.

I did get a painting finished, but it's not very good. I just couldn't get into it, with my head pounding.

My appetite is pretty much gone. Eating just isn't fun when you can't taste anything, but I've been making myself eat biscuits and drink fresh orange juice so I don't go hungry.

Hopefully this cold will have run it's course by Monday morning. Will go to bed early tonight and tomorrow to help it along.

According to UPI.com, adults who regularly attended church as children "are 50 percent more likely to become obese by middle age."

If that isn't a reason to stay out of church, then I don't know what is!

Seriously, all I learned when I attended church was how to conform to the way other people wanted me to be, that if I didn't tithe regularly I was full of sin, that to question the church's "authority" was the same as rejecting Christ, and that my questions, thoughts and opinions as a youth/young adult meant nothing.  Oh yeah, and let's not forget the whole "all the bad things that happen to you are punishments from god" because of some past sin. Because according to Fundamentalists, if you're a "true" believer then everything works out for the best and you don't have to worry about anything - because god will take care of you. (Just keep telling yourself that if your husband/wife beats you up every day)

Believe in god, if that's your thing. But for your own sanity, don't believe everything you're told in church. Read your "holy" book. I mean, really read it. Don't gloss over the things that make you uncomfortable or those things that you read and dismiss because "that was then, this is now and no one lives like that in these modern times," because you know what? They do. Some people still believe that adulterers, liers, thieves should be put to death. Some people still believe that homosexuality should carry a death sentence and that (LGBT) people will go to hell. The christian bible says that god himself will kill over half the earth's population - and enjoy doing so. Really read the bible and then tell me that you still believe that every single bit of it is true - if you can.

Spring Cold

Went to bed last night feeling a little 'under the weather' and woke up this morning with a full blown cold, complete with sniffles, headache, and scratchy throat. Because of this, I've had to turn down a potential commission, as I know I won't be able to devote the proper amount of attention to it for as long as I'm feeling this bad.

It never ceases to amaze me that when you get ill, you notice all the little things that need to get done. Things that you were very happy to ignore when you were feeling well. Housework, drawing, putting flat-pack shelving together, all of these things are noticed, but you're too bleh feeling to do them. Which of course, makes you feel worse.

Oh well, I'm sure after one or two early nights to bed that I'll soon be back to my usual self. Which is a good thing, as my boyfriend is coming over to visit next week and we have planned a wonderful day trip out during his stay. Not having a cold would be a wonderful thing during this time as it would make the visit a lot more enjoyable. Sneezing fits tend to ruin the mood, ya know.

April Charity Drive

April's charity is HAFS, which is a local charity for children in the Autistic spectrum and their parents/carers. This charity is very important to me as my son is severely autistic and the group has helped dozens of families in the area.

I have updated the "Charities" page with more information.

Thank you for looking!

Thoughts

My projects and ideas are getting too numerous to keep track of in my mind (I'm hopeless at writing things down), so I've decided to start a blog. This blog will contain various thoughts and ideas, ranging from artistic to personal, as well as highlight prints of my artwork that I have available.

Please feel free to comment on any of my posts, but remember to be polite while doing so.
Thank you.
